God or god?

Hm, what, pray tell do you mean by that Mike?  Well, I’ll  tell ya.

See, I am getting overwhelmed by the disregard for the reverence of God, Jesus, and The Bible.  I have seen even the “believers” use lowercase to describe, GOD, JESUS, OR THE BIBLE!

As a rule, when I am talking about the Trinity (Deity of God), anything about who The Lord Jesus is, who God is, or what the Bible stands for, I, out of reverence for the CHRIST who saved me, and the GOD who extended His grace, use capital letters.

Does that make me anal retentive?  Maybe.  But the English language has taken a real beating over the past several years with the advent of the technological age.

LOL, LMBO, ROFL, etc… are ALL capitalized!  I is  capitalized when referring to myself.  So, why wouldn’t GOD or JESUS be capitalized??

I have noticed a lot of folks lately, when referencing God, Jesus, the Bible, etc… that they refer in lower case letters… now I’m not a grammatical genius, and I understand that there are those that are not in agreement with me, or any Christian for that matter… But, if  (I) am going to capitalize (I) and not capitalize GOD… then I think that it is not being reverent.

Even though APA rules say that he, him, or his does not need to be capitalized when referencing God or Jesus, I do so anyway…out of reverence.

I won’t try to put my hang ups on those of you that haven’t come to the realization that God, not A god created the universe. Jesus, not a guy named jesus, died on the cross for our sins…

The BIBLE…is not just a comic book called the bible.. and/or a self help book, like the “handyman’s bible” or “a cook’s bible”

It is the inherent WORD of GOD…. in text form, given to us to live our lives accordingly, knowing GOD’S WILL for our lives!!

So, the next time you use I to describe yourself, and god to describe OUR FATHER… then, give it some thought…that maybe intentional or not… you might be putting down God, or just simply being IRREVERENT!

For this same reason…I do not capitalize “satan” ~

Hope I gave some food for thought here!

Apostle Paul said, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you
were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be
put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, just as God in Christ also forgave you” (Eph. 4:30-32)
The devil uses unforgiveness as yet another way to pull you away from God! Jesus himself says “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matt 6:14-15)
Is it really so hard to forgive others for wronging you? Can’t you just let go and “Let God?” Jesus died on the cross for just that reason! On the cross, while He was bleeding and could barely breathe from being nailed there, said… “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!” OUCH! Jesus asked HIS Father, OUR FATHER… God to forgive the people that tried and killed Him, and yet WE can not put away our differences and forgive others for simply wronging us? Do you not think that a husband, wife, friend, or foe says something to make you angry is maybe a little less important than someone killing you!?
Forgiveness is as easy as giving God the burden that you are carrying around on your shoulders. The person you are harboring unforgiveness towards is probably not even aware that you are in that state of mind, YET…YOU! YOU are DYING INSIDE!! Is it worth it? In Romans 12:19, Paul or one of His partners wrote “Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD.” Let God take care of the things God can take care of, let YOU take care of only the things that only you can take care of…actually let God take ALL of your burdens, because He loves you so very much. So why is it we can’t love others that way? God, thru Christ can love the unlovable, but WE can’t forgive, the forgiveable… think about it.. then remember that your prayers are hindered when you harbor a grudge against someone. Why should God forgive you when you, yourself can not forgive??? Food for thought… I’ll leave the rest for you to discuss with God! Forgive… AND FORGET!
Psalms 103:10-13 says….”He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;”

“But there is more! Now that God has accepted us because Christ sacrificed his life’s blood, we will also be kept safe from God’s anger. Even when we were God’s enemies, he made peace with us, because his Son died for us. Yet something even greater than friendship is ours. Now that we are at peace with God, we will be saved by his Son’s life. And in addition to everything else, we are happy because God sent our Lord Jesus Christ to make peace with us.” Romans 5:9-11 ~Contemporary English Version (CEV)
When we focus too much on the world and its shiny things… we are in essence making idols and worshiping them, instead of God.

It should be noted that it saddens God that as easy as HE made it to gain salvation for our souls.. we still turn our heads away and refuse! When we were in sin (before we accepted Jesus) God was still making a way for us to have salvation… as it says in 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

God only wants our obedience to His love for us. To put away our idols, sin not, and follow Him. It’s not a daunting task by any means, but we make it that way. We complicate the gospel to the point that NOONE wants to hear it. We add stipulations to the gospel like the Galatians did by adding tradition to the relationship…or rather RELIGION to the RELATIONSHIP.

It is quite simple. If we acknowledge the magnitude of what Christ did on that cross…we should be head over heals, unabashedly in love with our LORD! We should WANT to take His life and make it ours…we should WANT to die to ourselves and sin no more!! But do we?? NO! We make excuses! We say, “Oh, I’ll have to stop drinking, I can’t cuss anymore…no more playing cards….” and the many other pathetic things that RELIGIOUS people add to the RELATIONSHIP GOSPEL OF GRACE of JESUS CHRIST!!
They should be ashamed!!!

So, soften your hearts. Listen to the voice of God. Pull back from your life in the world and focus all you have on Him!! 🙂
