“Mike’s Monday Meanderings”
I shared this on Our Youth Group Facebook today, felt that maybe it was also pertinent in our lives as believers!
“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul talks about the CHURCH being ONE body.
What does this mean? I’ll give you my take on this, and you can pull from it what you want.
If you cause injury to ANY part of your body…your hand, feet, eyes, ears, anything… Do YOU feel pain?
Of COURSE you do!! We ALL do!
Such is the way that the church is supposed to be!!
When one of our students feels pain…(death, troubles at school, at home, etc..) WE feel pain. It HURTS!
Darlene reminds us at Youth every week to look around, see who’s missing… Why is that? Is it just to show that we have a bunch of people that we don’t have there? NO! It’s so that we can acknowledge that there had to have been a reason, and it wasn’t God that kept them.
What about at church? Someone that’s not been there, or not there that Sunday?
So, we feel the pain of our brothers and sisters who are not there, we pray for them.. AND if we have their PHONE NUMBER..we could text or CALL them and ask them if everything is okay.
Whenever someone is missing from CHURCH on Sunday, either myself or Darlene, sometimes both of us, will text that person or persons and ask them if everything is okay..
We missed them, we prayed for them, we LOVE THEM!!!
The first part of this verse is PUT ON LOVE! Sure, we may not feel that NATURAL love for a person, but thru Christ Jesus, we CAN feel that love. We are putting ON Christ! So Put on Christ, LOVE that person that is missing.. or even in your family..
Dad isn’t home all the time, maybe everyone in your house is fighting. Maybe you don’t get along with your brother or sister!
Maybe your brother or sister did something so dumb you want to thump them, but PUT ON LOVE! Pray for them, LOVE on them, let them know that because of Jesus, you are THERE FOR THEM!!
I hope and pray you guys got something out of this. Apply it to other things in your life, apply it to church, youth group, HOME.
Read 1 Corinthians 12.
Put on Love. Show Christ. BE THE BODY!! Whether you are the arm, leg, foot, hand, or eyes… Jesus, who is the HEAD called us to be the body. Find your niche. See where God wants you to be. Live in Unity and Spirit.
Your Life in Him will be phenomenal when you don’t make it all about you! Good Day People!!
